Prior to joining the Company, from 1995 to the present, Mr. Lee has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank where he is responsible for the management of $426 million in assets, 14 locations and 151 employees. In 1989, prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 1994, Mr. Lee began his career with Commercial Bank as a bookkeeper where he eventually moved to Vice President - Marketing in 1991, Vice president - Loan Officer in 1991 and Senior Vice President - Senior Lending Officer in 1992. In addition to serving as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Commercial Bank, Mr. Lee serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Lee Oil Company, Inc., Lee Enterprises, Inc., Lee's Food Mart, LLC, Cumberland Ford Motors, Inc., L & M Ventures, Inc., Green Hill Properties, Inc. and Berea Ford Motors, Inc. Mr. Lee graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management in 1979.
Mr. Miller has been with the Heartland since 2003 when it acquired Mound Technologies, Inc. Mr. Miller was elected to the Board of Directors on May 23, 2006, and as its Chief Operating Officer on September 27, 2006. From May 23, 2006 to September 27, 2006, Mr. Miller acted as Registrants Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Miller graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1978 and continued his education at the University of Dayton where he received a Master of Business Administration degree in 1983. He is a registered engineer in the state of Ohio. Mr. Miller started on the shop floor at Mound Steel Corporation as a welder. He spent time working in the engineering and sales department before becoming Vice President of Sales and Quality in 1986. He became President of Mound Steel Corporation in 1990. The additional title of Chief Executive was added to his responsibilities in 2001. In November of 2002, Mr. Miller became Chief Executive Officer of Mound Technologies, Inc. In 1988 he was elected to the Lebanon City Council. He was re-elected in 1992 and served as Vice Mayor during that time period. Mr. Miller has served on various local boards including the Middletown Regional Hospital Foundation, Dan Beard council of Boy Scouts of America, and the Warren County Business Advisory Council. In addition to his new position as President and Chief executive Officer of the Registrant, Mr. Miller will continue as President of the Registrant's subsidiary Mound Technologies, Inc.
Mr. Sommerville former founder, currently serves as Director of Heartland. Previously, Mr. Sommerville served as Director, Chairman of the Board and was appointed as our Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Sommerville attended Perkingston College. Mr. Sommerville worked at Anjet where he obtained NASD Series 22 and Series 63 licenses. Following his experience there, Mr. Sommerville started IGE Capital where he has been actively involved in many venture capital opportunities including, Cyber Operations, and PMI Wireless.
K. Barton Farris, MD is President of Consultant Pathology Service, Inc and Medical Director of Laboratories at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, LA. He is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine and Carnegie-Mellon University. Dr. Farris serves as Chair of the Council on Constitution and Bylaws of the American Medical Association and is a member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He is a former President of the Louisiana State Medical Society. Dr. Farris is Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at both Tulane and LSU Schools of Medicine. Currently he is an unaffiliated Director on the Board of Heartland, Inc.
Mr. Frevert currently serves as Vice President of Patriot Steel, Inc., a position he has held since June 2007. In this position, he is responsible for the restructuring and diversification of their product line, and has helped build annualized sales by 38%. Prior to his current position, Mr. Frevert was Product / Processing Manager for Leeco Steel / O' Neal Steel, from October 2006 to June 2007, where he was charged with coordinating the training of personnel for quoting all plate processing. Additionally he assisted in the development and building of a new facility in the southeast. From March 1995 to July 2005, Mr. Frevert held the position of Vice President with Industrial Steel, Inc. With "P&L line item responsibility", he focused on expanding the company's customer base, development of a market position, and changing the corporate culture. The result was an increase of sales from $12 to $16 million, and a 56% growth in their customer base. Mr. Frevert was the Vice President & General Manager of Action Steel Supply, Inc., from March 1995 to July 2005. During this period sales increased from $24 to $100 million with a customer base of over 2000. He was responsible for a budget of almost $35 million, 75 employees, and a 265,000 square foot facility. As Vice President and Division Manager of Brehob Corporation from July 1988 to March 1995, where he managed all personnel issues and had line item responsibility for the Profit/Loss statement. During this period sales rose from $1.1 to $10 million, and boosted net profit to over 5%. Mr. Frevert attended Indiana Wesleyan University, earning both a BSBA & MBA, while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. He graduated with highest honors at IWU, and received the Presidents "Outstanding Professional Award". He attended Edison State Community College, graduating with an AS degree in Accounting, and attended Ohio State University with studies in Business Management and Economics. Mr. Frevert is currently an Adjunct Faculty Member for Indiana Wesleyan University, teaching graduate level classes in their Business and Marketing degree programs.
